In my opinion, the use of Genially for this project was very successful. The artifact effectively showcased the message that was intended and is able to engage viewers with its interactive features. However, there is always room for improvement. Future versions of Genially could benefit from incorporating more ways that educators could give feedback to students directly on their created genially, instead of recording a video or commenting on a different platform. This will add to the versatility of the platform and give educators more to add when it comes to feedback. I do feel that Genially will continue to prove to be an effective tool for creating rich, multimedia narratives that attract diverse learners. Genially is an amazing tool to use in education as it has the ability to foster interactive and engaging learning experiences for all who use it.
I selected Genially because of its unique features that support such a positive message about education. The platform assists students in the creation of dynamic and multimodal presentations. My goal is to convey the multifaceted nature of Genially, its design flexibility, impact in the space of digital learning and the practical applications in educational settings. The interactive nature of my artifact aims to demonstrate how Genially can be used to create interesting learning experiences that go beyond traditional common presentations.
The object that I chose for this assignment is Genially itself, a platform known for its ability to create interactive content. Genially’s brilliant interface allows the integration of various multimedia elements such as text, buttons, images, videos, memes and other interactive features making a very cohesive and multimodal presentation. Genially's easy to use functionality and extensive template library made it easy to select an artifact that is both visually appealing and pedagogically effective.
Genially CTO Chema Roldán: Create Interactive Presentations and Infographics
Genially’s pedagogical function is its ability to transform simple presentations and assignments where students experience quite passive learning into an engaging and design heavy experience. By incorporating interactive elements such as fun clickable tabs, embedded videos, memes and quizzes, students are suddenly encouraged to explore content at their own pace. This aligns with constructivist learning theories, which focuses on the importance of participation and knowledge construction.
GENIAL.LY
As the landscape of educational technology continues to change and evolve, Genially definitrely stands out as a platform designed to enhance the way we present and share information. This review explores the use of Genially to create a digital artifact that not only showcases the platform's capabilities but also serves as an engaging educational tool. Genially is a versatile online tool for creating all kinds of interactive content. It was born in Spain in 2015 with the aim of making communication easier and more diverse. The platform is designed to engage audiences with unique clickable, gamified and media-rich experiences. Genially offers free access to create unlimited interactive content. The original value proposition of Genially was to provide anyone and everyone with the tools to create visual and interactive content. They aimed to make interactive content the new norm, as common as saying hello or looking both ways before crossing the street. This was a response to the question they posed in 2015, "If technology has changed the world, why do we continue to communicate with the same tools we have always used?" They wanted to launch a tool for creating interactive and animated content that anyone can use.
My excitement with interactive content and digital storytelling was always present, even as a young learner. Initially, I went back and forth with enrolling in a program dedicated to content creation and film before I became an educator, but I found that my love for education outweighed my other passions. I am mostly self-taught and have always sought to broaden my understanding of tools like Final Cut Pro and Adobe Photoshop, but often found most software to be somewhat challenging and not particularly user-friendly. When I discovered Genially in the MET program, I was so surprised by its extensive range of features and design options, and was very impressed with its user interface. I have used this tool for both personal and professional design, presentation and creative work. From interactive presentations, infographics or assessments, Genially eliminates the need for other expensive applications. I currently use Genially with my students in Grade 7, and they take a lot of pride in the work they are able to produce in a short amount of time using this platform. The tool's ability to make interactive content accessible to everyone is truly remarkable. It's been a game-changer in my journey as an educator, allowing me to bring creativity and interactivity into my classroom and to diverse learners in a whole new way.
