Parts Of School

The education system in the United Kingdom is divided into four main parts, begin at 5years old and finish at 16.

  • Primary (2years)
  • Secondary (4years)
  • Further and Higher education (3 and 2years)
Whereas in Italy:...
  • Primary (5years)
  • Secondary (3years)
  • High school (5years)
So, unlike the English students, we start school at 5, but finish at 18.

Time Table And Holidays

Classes generally start around 9 a.m. and finish between 3 and 4 p.m., with a one-hour break for lunch.

In the UK, as in France, the school year begins in September - but ends in the 3rd week of July: the summer vacations last just 5 weeks. The school year consists of 3 terms, with 2 weeks' vacation between each term. Terms are divided into half-terms of around 6 weeks, with a week's vacation in between.

The school week is 5 days long, but extracurricular activities, such as sports, can be organized on Saturday mornings.

School Subjects

Same as us, their subject are languages (English, German, French, etc…), Science (Biology, Chemistry, etc…) Mathematic, History and Geography and Arts (Art, Music, etc…).

Fun Facts about English School

  • They’re not obliged to pass a test in order to get in the school
  • Unlike the Italien students, they must wear an uniform (so as to avoid discrimination between pupils).
  • In the secondary school, they study more complicated subjects and choose some optional ones (like Latin for example).
  • They can have extra-curricular activities, like Drama, Music or Sports.
  • They eat in a cantine whereas Italian students eat at home.
  • School year fees are much higher than in Italy.
  • Classes are generally much smaller than in Italy, with an average of 9 pupils per class.
Thanks for your attention !
Please give me a round of applause... I made it with all my heart...
