Acceleration refers to the variations in the speed of an object with respect to time. Take as an example a Formula 1 car, which must compete for approximately an hour and a half.

Acceleration:
Acceleration is the name we give to any process where the speed changes. Since speed is a speed and a direction, there are only two ways for you to accelerate: change your speed or change your direction (or change both).

Types of acceleration
Positive acceleration: The acceleration of a body is said to be positive when its speed increases with time. The direction of this acceleration is the same in which the body moves without there being a change in its direction. Negative acceleration: For its part, the acceleration of a body is negative when the speed of the body decreases. The direction of negative acceleration is opposite to the direction in which the body is moving. This type of negative acceleration is also known as deceleration or retardation.

We can find the acceleration using the following formula: Where a corresponds to acceleration, Vi is the initial velocity, Vf is the final velocity, and t is the time interval. As mentioned, the unit of acceleration in the International System is meter per second squared (m/s2).

Examples of acceleration
We can physically experience these examples in our daily activities. When you press the accelerator pedal in a vehicle, the car moves faster and faster. This change in speed in the car is acceleration. If the same force is used to push a truck and push a car, the car will have more acceleration than the truck.
