DNP Options in IL
I was accepted into the Rush PMHNP program , but decided not to attend because I was told the program would take me 3-5 years, working part-time. I also come from clinical research, so the thought of doing MORE research was not appealing! With that said, if I decide to go back for my DNP, I would apply to:
- UIC Post-Master's DNP Program
- 2 -year fully online program
Post-graduation residencies or certifcation programs
- IOM calls for the creation of and/or expansion of PMHNP residencies throughout the country (Kumar et al., 2020)
- VA residencies and community health center residencies
- CBT workshops and certifications
- CBT for trauma

PMHNP-BC

- Initial application: test is 175 questions, 3.5 hours to complete, complete application through ANCC, need to have completed 500 clinical hours and have an expected graduation date.
- Renewal application; can be started 1 year ahead of the 5 years. ANCC has storage capability for all CE completed, which will make the renewal process easier.
