Marc Márquez Alentà is a Spanish motorbike racer who competes in MotoGP. He was born Cervera, Lérida, 17 de febrero de 1993. He has won eight Motorcycle World Championship titles in three different classes: 125cc (2010), Moto2 (2012) and six times in MotoGP (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019). From 2013 to 2023 he was a Repsol Honda team rider, accumulating 59 victories and 101 podiums in more than 150 races contested.
general information
He began his career in 1997, competing in his first enduro race.He started competing in MotoGP in 2013, coinciding with his arrival at Repsol Honda. He has been with Repsol KTM, Red Bull KTM Motosport, Red Bull Ajo Motorsport, Team Catalunya Caixa Repsol and, from 2013 to 2023 he was with the Repsol Honda team, with which he decided to break his relationship and from January 2024 he belongs to the Italian Gresini Racing MotoGP team, where he rides a new DUCATI bike. Marc has a brother, Álex Márquez, who is currently riding in MotoGP with the same team.
BEGINNINGS
Marc started enduro racing in 1997. Until he moved up to the highest categories of motorcycling, he competed in small categories in which he achieved great results. In 2007, at the age of 14, he competed in one of the most important categories in Spanish motorcycling, the FIM CEV. He was riding a KTM FRR, and due to his light weight, they added 20kg. to his bike to meet the minimum weight of the pillion and the bike together. He took his first pole position in the second race, and made podium and victory in the third race. In the next three races he did not score points and in the seventh and final race he finished eighth. In the overall standings he finished ninth, younger than everyone ahead of him.
TIME IN 125CC (2008-2010)
SEASON 2008
In 2008 he would race in the 125 cc. world class (now Moto 3) with the Repsol-KTM team. Due to an arm injury he did not compete in the first two races, but did not score in the third race. He scored his first four points in the fourth race in China. In the fifth race he crashed and in the sixth race he did not score points. He made his first top ten at his home circuit in Barcelona, it was the seventh race where he finished in tenth position. In the eighth race, after an exciting fight, he gets his first podium in 125cc and becomes the youngest Spaniard to make a podium and the second in history at the age of 15 years and 126 days. In the following race he crashes and does not score points, and in the tenth race he finishes ninth. He crashes again in the Czech Republic and in San Marino he gets a great fourth position. Later in the USA he was sixth and in Japan he crashed and retired. In Australia he was ninth and in the following race he was injured and said goodbye to the rest of the season.

season 2009
SEASON 2010
Marc signs for Red Bull Ajo Motorsport, where he rides a DERBI bike. In Qatar he took pole position and finished third in the race, and in Jerez he also took pole, but crashed on the first lap. With pain from the crash he goes to Le Mans, and gets another third position, and in Italy he gets his first victory in the world championship, which is followed by four more in a row in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Catalonia and Germany. In Brno he finished seventh and got injured. In Indianapolis, after a penalty, he finished tenth. At Misano, he gets the win. Minutes later, unfortunately, a Japanese Moto 2 rider dies. In Aragon he crashed again, but took pole position and won the race. He also wins in Malaysia, Australia and Portugal. He was crowned champion in the next and last race of the year in Valencia, with a calmness uncharacteristic of a boy of his age. Even Valentino Rossi surrendered at his feet.
time in moto 2 (2011-2012)
SEASON 2012
season 2011
Marc starts the 2012 season by winning the first race, narrowly, and finishes second in the second race. In Portugal he wins the race and in Catalonia and the UK he finishes third. He manages to win the next two races, but finishes fifth in Italy. After that he wins the next three races and finishes second in Aragon. Wins in Japan, and was fighting for the championship with Pol Espargaró. At that point, both could have won the championship with three races to go, but Marc wasted the first match ball, crashing in Malaysia in the rain. We arrived at the penultimate race of the season, in Australia, where he had a very bad qualifying, but after a great comeback, he managed to win the championship mathematically, with one race to go and finishing third in the race. In the last race, in Valencia, he started last due to a penalty, but made an epic comeback and won the race, with the greatest comeback in history, climbing 32 positions.

SEASON 2013
Marc makes the jump to the premier class, Moto GP. His team is the Repsol Honda Team and his bike is a Honda. In the first race he finishes third on the podium and in Austin he wins the race being the youngest rider to do so at the age of 20 years and 63 days. In the next two races he was on the podium with a second and third place, but retired in Italy. In the next six races he finished second and third again and from then on he won four races in a row. In the next four races, Marc takes three second places and one victory, but in Australia he is disqualified mid-race. At Honda's home race he finishes second, and with one race to go, the title is still undecided, although Marc has more in his favour. Then in that last race, he finishes third and is crowned Moto GP world champion, becoming the youngest champion at the age of 20 years and 266 days. That year Marc wins the title in the first race, and manages to break almost every possible record.
Injury in the 2020 SEASON
Marc starts the 2020 season at the Jerez circuit. He makes an epic save at the beginning of the race, but loses many positions. When he was already close to the first, according to his words, he made a small save in turn two, he came out of that turn badly placed and in turn three the electronics of the bike failed and he suffered a "high side". He fractures his humerus and has to undergo three operations and therefore misses the rest of the season.
TIME IN MOTO GP II (2021-2023)
season 2022
SEASON 2021
season 2023
Marc returns to action in 2021, although he misses the first two races. He has very discreet results, due to the fact that the bike is not very good and has many shortcomings. He manages to win at Sachsenring after 581 days without a win. From then on, his results improved little by little. He finishes second in Aragon, and fourth in Misano, but wins two consecutive races in Austin and Misano 2. While riding motocross, he has an accident and is diagnosed with diplopia again, missing the last two races.
change of team in 2024
After the poor results obtained with Honda in recent years and with the little work on the part of the engineers of the "golden wing", Marc said that either they reacted or that he would leave the team. In Misano, the sports newspaper AS spread the word that Marc would be joining Gresini Racing for the following season. No one said that was true—but no one denied it. As the days went by, the rumor grew stronger, until in October, it was confirmed that Marc would go to that team, with his brother Alex as a teammate.
other details
In his first season in the category, he won the MotoGP World Championship, becoming the youngest rider to win a championship in the top class of the sport (MotoGP), beating Freddie Spencer's record. He is also the youngest rider in history to be bi, tri, tetra, penta and hexa champion in the premier class of motorcycling. He always wears the number 93, chosen for his year of birth. He is identified with the ant, which he always wears on his helmet, because of his great capacity for work, sacrifice and strength, despite his small size.
my opinion
I admire M. Márquez for many reasons: 1. Because he performs a risky sport where he puts his life on the line. 2. Because he has been world champion on many occasions in different categories and beating very tough rivals. For example, beating V. Rossi. 3. He has also been a very young champion. 4. He is very funny and nice. 5. And, what I like most about him is that he has overcome himself in spite of the difficulties, that's why he is associated with the ant.
thank you
fIn this season Marc swept his rivals and finished first and second in every race except one in which he crashed and had to retire when he was in the lead. With five races to go, he was 98 points ahead of his nearest rival, with only 125 points left to play for, so if he took two points off his rival in the next race, he would be champion. Marc made the most of his first chance and managed to overtake Fabio Quartararo in the final corner to win the championship once again.
In the 2022 season the bike is worse than in 2021. In Indonesia he has a heavy crash and has diplopia again, so he misses two races. Several races later Marc confesses that he will have another operation on his humerus, as he had a big deviation and misses many races. His best result was a second place in Australia, although he did not win any race and the other results were very discreet.
In this season Marc won five races, made four second places, a fourth and a fifth place, however, he had to retire in six races. In addition, he had many disagreements and broke off his friendship with his idol Valentino Rossi. First, because in Assen, in the last corner, he deprived him of the victory, getting him out of his way, closing the line and making Marc brake. To make matters worse, when Valentino was playing for the world championship in Malaysia, he kicked Marc off his bike to overtake him.
Marc started the 2014 season with one goal: to defend the title. And boy did he prove it, because he won the first ten races of the championship, thus becoming the third piloto to achieve this feat. In the next race in Brno he finished fourth, but won again in the next race. Although he had poor results in the next two races, he mathematically defended his title in Japan with a second place. In the next three and final races, he took a win and a second place, although in one of these three races he had to advance. He made several records such as making the highest number of victories of the season, with thirteen victories or the record for most poles in a season with thirteen poles.
In this year Marc moves up to the intermediate category, called Moto 2, and rides with the Catalunya Caixa Repsol Team, with a Suter-Honda bike. In his first year, he started off on the wrong foot, crashing in the first three races, but when he arrived at Le Mans he got his first victory in this category. At home, Catalunya gets a second place, with which he gets on the podium, but at Silverstone he has to abandon due to a crash, but in Assen he gets the victory again. He went on to take two more consecutive victories and a second place in the next three races. Once again he took three consecutive victories, and then a second place at Motegi, which put him in the lead of the overall standings as a rookie. Fifteenth race and after a penalty, he takes third place. Then, in the penultimate race of the year, due to a fall, he was diagnosed with diplopia and said goodbye to the World Championship.
The 2018 season starts and Marc takes second place in Qatar, but is penalised in Argentina and out of the points. He wins the next three races but is again out of the points in Italy. He takes second place in Catalunya and two victories at Assen and Sachsenring. He takes three podiums (two second places and a third) in the next three races. He then took three victories in a row, and in the last one he managed to retain his title again.
Marc starts the 2017 season with a fourth place and a crash, but he won in Austin and got a second place in Jerez. However, the bad results started again with a crash and a sixth place in two races. In the next five races, he took two second places, two wins and a third place.Although he dropped out in the UK, he took three wins and a second place in the next four races. In Malaysia, he takes fourth place, but the title will be decided in the final race in Valencia. After an epic save at the start of the race, his rival crashes and he retains the title.
Marc starts the season with a third place and two victories in the first three races, he adds another third place. He crashes in the fifth race, but manages to score three points by finishing thirteenth. In the next four races, he managed three second places and one victory. After that, Marc just tries to score as many points as possible in several races. He wins two consecutive victories and with the last one he becomes champion again.
In this season, Marc tries to be regular in the championship, which he does not achieve, as he alternates podiums and poles with lower positions and retirements and crashes. He has several fourth, fifth, and sixth places, along with two poles and a podium, although he alternates them as I said before with other poorer results. This season he has a new sponsor in Red Bull. He also becomes the youngest Spanish driver to take pole position.
