introdução

Coimbra é uma cidade historicamente universitária, por causa da Universidade de Coimbra, uma das mais antigas da Europa e das maiores de Portugal, fundada em 1290 como Estudo Geral Português por D. Dinis em Lisboa que depois várias instalações nas duas cidades, se fixou definitivamente na cidade do Mondego em 1537. Na história recente a população estudantil da Universidade teve um papel importante ao ser ativamente defensora dos valores da liberdade e democracia frente à ditadura do Estado Novo. Uma das cidades mais antigas do país, foi a capital de Portugal antes de Lisboa, até 1255 e nela está o primeiro Panteão Nacional, o Mosteiro de Santa Cruz.

A zona central ou antiga da cidade de Coimbra é marcada por ruas estreitas e sinuosas, preservando a arquitetura histórica com edifícios tradicionais, incluindo a Universidade de Coimbra, com sua imponente Biblioteca Joanina e a Torre da Universidade. A Sé Velha e o Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Velha também contribuem para a atmosfera histórica da região. Além disso, a Praça 8 de Maio é um ponto central com cafés e comércio, proporcionando uma experiência autêntica e cultural.

Programa ‘Coimbra com mais encanto’ O programa ‘Coimbra com mais Encanto’ faculta gratuitamente tinta para pinturas de imóveis isentando os proprietários de taxas e licenças, com a obrigação de embutir as infra-estruturas aéreas nas fachadas. Projecto de Revitalização da Alta – URBCOM A Associação Comercial e Industrial de Coimbra (ACIC) e a Câmara Municipal de Coimbra (CMC) estabeleceram uma parceria para desenvolver um projecto de urbanismo comercial para a Alta, à semelhança de duas experiências anteriores na Baixa de Coimbra. É agora objecto desta candidatura a Alta da cidade, dado que este espaço nobre da cidade alberga grande parte dos edifícios notáveis de Coimbra, ao mesmo tempo que é animado por actividades económicas especiais e distintas do resto da cidade. Trata-se, antes de tudo, de potenciar a requalificação desta área da cidade, por intermédio dos vectores fundamentais na vivência e renascimento da Alta de Coimbra: A dinamização do tecido comercial; A revitalização dos imóveis por forma a induzirem o aumento da habitação na zona. As medidas de intervenção no espaço público/reabilitação urbana aqui apresentadas são, numa primeira análise, as consideradas fundamentais para preservar e salvaguardar o património arquitectónico, mas também para transformar esta área de Intervenção num local ainda mais aprazível ao estar e ao lazer.
