AND THE PROFESSIONAL
APPLICATION PROJECTS (PAP)
ITESO as a Jesuit university
Within the framework of ITESO´s Educational Model (MEI) of 2004, the Professional Application Projects (PAP) were consolidated as an innovative educational approach, oriented towards providing social education and outreach in the curricula. For more than 16 years, the PAP have promoted the generation of alternatives and solutions to the needs and problems in different communities and contexts of our region and beyond. Each PAP is conformed in interdisciplinary groups that work through collaborative processes and interaction with social actors to achieve socioenvironmental incidence in the territories.

Characteristics of the PAP
The PAP are an innovation by integrating social education, outreach and the terminal option of all educational programs into their design.
To be suitable for PAP enrollment, the student needs at least 70% of his academic credits completed. Students put themselves and their profession at the service of others as part of the last chapter of their academic journey.

PAP MANAGEMENT
Implementing PAPs requires a strong articulation between the management of four dimensions that produce a set of learning experiences between students, university teachers and social actors that lead to solving real problems in specific contexts.
The four dimensions of management and the basic criteria that this educational innovation requires for its operation are:
- Specialized institutional management: adequate and available infrastructure and training systems.
- Outreach: intervention methodologies, monitoring and evaluation of scenarios and projects.
- Learning-Training: strategies to strengthen the transfer and reflection of socio-professional knowledge. - Knowledge management: recovery and systematization of good practices and methodologies.
Accompaniment in PAP
PAPs are always accompanied by a teacher and a team of advisors whose work consists of the fulfilment of the project objectives, the documentation of the generated knowledge and learning in a final report and delivering the developed products or services to the beneficiaries.
ORGANISATION OF 200 PAP BY 4 THEMATIC AREAS
Articulation between faculties / directors, teachers, actors and external organizations
In order to 1) achieve greater articulation between all the actors involved in PAP, 2) recover and share experiences, 3) recognize the valuable attributed for the PAP experience and 4)increase the incidence in the different scenarios, various spaces have been organized: - Meetings with directors, teachers, advisors, and program coordinators.- The PAPs final presentations are shared with all the involved actors / feedback sessions and validation of generated products.- Learning community between PAP teachers.- PAP dialogues / teachers, actors and PAP coordinators.
