Alzheimer's is a brain disease that was first identified more than 100 years age, risk factors, and potential treatments has only recently gained importance. Alzheimer's disease is distinguished by the accumulation of strange proteins in the brain, that form and tangled bundles of protein fibres. Most experts now agree that plaques and tangles in the brain can accumulate for 20 years or more before symptoms appear.
