Baptism is an important ceremony in many Christian denominations.
It is considered a sacrament, a visible sign of God’s grace.

What happens at an infant’s baptism?
The priest gently pours water over the baby's head.
As parents, we make the promise to help our child follow Christian values and beliefs.
The water represents purity and a new life as a Christian.

What happens at an adult's baptism?
The adult would stand in a baptistry (a separate building), or next to a font when the water is sprinkled over the head. Adult baptisms take place in other settings like rivers, the sea or even sometimes swimming pools!
This represents my old life being washed away and my new life as a Christian.
The priest fully immerses the adult in the water.
