APRIL 2ND PRIORITY DEADLINE
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE
PCC HELPS YOU
IF YOU DON'T TRY, YOU'LL NEVER KNOW
FAFSA OR CA DREAM ACT
10 things to remember
FINANCIAL AID
YOU HAVE TO APPLY EVERY YEAR
KEEP UP TO DATE WITH LANCERPOINT FOR MISSING DOCUMENTS
GENERALLY IF YOU'RE UNDER 24, YOU'LL NEED YOUR PARENTS' TAX INFO
AVOIDING ACADEMIC & PROGRESS PROBATION IS IMPORTANT
NOT ALL AID MUST BE PAID BACK
- 2024's deadline is April 2nd because of the revamp of the websites!
- March 2nd is the typical priority deadline each year. Applications open on October 1st.
- You can use tax information from 2 years ago to complete the FAFSA/CA Dream Act.
Even if you miss the March 2nd deadline, you can still apply!
Who can help?
- Pathways has workshops throughout the year - even during JAM!
- Financial Aid
- Virtual Support Center!
Don't assume you won't qualify. You have no idea what you may or may not qualify for unless you try. You have nothing to lose! First year students who don't qualify for the CA College Promise may still qualify for the PCC Promise!
Both applications are free! The major difference between the 2: CA DREAM Act application is specifically designed for undocumented individuals that meet certain criteria.
Loans must be paid back but grants do not. Also to be eligible for Work Study, you must indicate interest on the Financial Aid Application. Without it, you will disqualify regardless of income or other factors.
To remain eligible for Financial Aid, you must remain in good academic standing, which means keep your GPA above a 2.0, and have satisfactory academic progress (complete 67% or more of all attempted units by avoiding a lot of Ws).
Once you submit your financial aid application, PCC will keep you updated with what your next steps are or if you are missing documents on LancerPoint through the Tuition & Aid tab.
Apply for Financial Aid by March 2nd EVERY year you plan to continue to be in college.
If you're under 24, independent & your parents don't help you financially, the federal government requires your parents' tax information. However, if you are married or have a child, they will not ask for your parents' information.
