We decided to talk about Vancouver, the third largest city in Canada, which aims to become 100% sustainable by 2050. It was voted the 5th best city in the world to live in.

Vancouver has 240 parks and green areas and 93% of the population lives less than 5 minutes away from a park. It has one of the largest and most beautiful urban parks in Canada and in all of North America, Stanley Park, with 404 hectars of plants and oxygen-rich air.

In 2014, a methane gas capture system was implemented in landfills to be used to heat buildings, greenhouses and generate electricity, which annually prevents around 550,000 tons of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere.In 2015 Vancouver started paving streets with recycled plastic.

More than 50% of trips in Vancouver are made on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. The city has a total of 527 km of cycle paths, and on most streets bicycles have priority over cars.
