Plastic islands

One of the major causes of sea pollution are Plastic Islands. They are a huge accumulation of waste floating in the ocean, mainly composed of plastic material and other types of waste.

Mediterranean Sea

It is a sea that suffers the pressure of over 150 million people, who produce between 208 and 760 kg of waste per year. Its basin also collects the waters of many rivers coming from highly populated territories and carriers of polluting substances and plastic, such as the Nile, the Rhone and the Po.

Baltic Sea

The Baltic is considered one of the most polluted seas on the planet. The explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines which expanded the dispersion area of ​​toxic chemical agents residual from military warheads during the Second World War contributed to increasing environmental damage to marine life.

Black sea

The rupture of a dam in Ukraine flooded many villages and released millions of tons of water, dragging an enormous quantity of debris, sediment, oil and mud towards the Black Sea.

Microplastics in the oceans are not biodegradable pollutants measuring just a few millimetres, which accumulate in marine ecosystems causing very serious damage to the environment
