Born in Dublin, Ireland
16TH OCTOBER 1854
He brilliantly attended Trinity College in Dublin and Oxford University thanks to scholarships. This was also the beginning of an extravagant life of luxury and travels, that led him to financial issues and family disagreements.

He started composing poetry, publishing his first collection in 1881. His work and his behaviour earned him criticism and allegations of immoral conduct.That same year he met Constance Lloyd, a rich and well educated young woman.

Despite Oscar's financial troubles the couple was happy during the first years of their marriage. They had two sons, Cyril and Vyvyan, in 1885 and 1886.In 1886 he met Robert Ross and started having affairs with him and other young men.
MARRIAGE WITH CONSTANCE LLOYD
1884
He wrote his only novel and greatest work, that was not well received by the public. Critics found it unethical and wicked, failing to see its beauty.

Differing from other previous casual flings, his relationship with Alfred Douglas was more serious and lasting. The affair proved to be extremely damaging to both Wilde's reputation and finances.
MEETING ALFRED "BOSIE" DOUGLAS
1892
His satyrical comedies "Lady Windermere's Fan", "A Woman of No Importance", "An Ideal Husband", "Salomè" and "The Importance of being Earnest" gained him immense success and popularity.
SUCCESSFUL PLAYWRITING
1892-1895
Bosie's father Lord Queensberry accused Wilde of entertaining homosexual relationships and immoral behaviour. Wilde decided to respond by suing him for defamation. During the trial evidence of said relationships came out and the case against Lord Queensberry was rejected. Wilde was then put on trial for sodomy and found guilty.
ALLEGATIONS OF HOMOSEXUALITY AND TRIAL
1895
Wilde was sentenced to two years of imprisonment and hard labour, during which his health conditions became teriible. His wife Constance and his friend and former lover Robert Ross remained in close and affectionate contact with him, while Alfred Douglas completely abandoned him.
ImPRISONMENT IN READING GAOL
1895-1897
He got out of prison a changed and broken man. His wife refused to let him back home and London became hostile to him. He left England and moved to France. He died in Paris on the 30th november 1900.
