OUR SENSE ORGANS

We see with our eyes We hear with our ears We smell with our nose We taste with our tongue We touch with our skin

Start

SIGHT

The pupil lets light reach the retina which sends signal to the brain through the optic nerve. The iris controls the size of the pupil and changes how much light can get into the eye. The eyelid, eyelashes and sclera all work to protect the other parts of our eyes.

Next

HEARING

Sounds waves enter the outer ear and make the eardrum vibrate. These vibrations go to the small bones and then they reach the cochlea. The cochlea transforms vibrations into signals that signals travel through the auditory nerve to the brain. The brain interprets the sounds

Next

SMELL

Smells enter the nasal cavity and go to the olfactory nerve, which sends a signal to the brain.

Next

TASTE

Our taste buds allow us to detect the flavours in what we eat. There are four main flavours: Sweet, sour, salty, bitter

Next

TOUCH

It tell us if something is smooth, rough, hot or cold. We also perceive pain. The sense organ for touching is our skin.
