Superlatives

Compare 2 or more nouns

When more than two nouns are being compared, it’s time to use superlative adjectives. These are adjectives that refer to the highest degree of difference between the nouns that are being compared.

  • My brother is the tallest in my family.
  • Ferrari cars are the most expensive cars in the world.
  • English is the easiest language to learn.
  • Dogs are the best friends we can have.

Watch the following video to check the rules for comparative and superlatives.

Comparatives

Compare 2 nouns

Comparative adjectives are adjectives used to compare characteristics between two nouns, highlighting their differences (these could be objects, people, places or animals) based on a shared characteristic (size, color, height, velocity, etc).

  • My brother runs faster than me
  • Japanese food is healthier than American food
  • Mexico city is more modern than Toluca city.
  • Rats are worse than spiders.
