Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin, born on February 12, 1809, in Shrewsbury, England, was the fifth of six children. His interest in nature grew during his studies at Cambridge, where he later joined the HMS Beagle expedition in 1831. Darwin's observations during the voyage led to his revolutionary theory of evolution. In 1859, he published "On the Origin of Species," proposing natural selection as the mechanism for species adaptation. Despite initial controversy, his work gained widespread acceptance. Darwin married his cousin Emma Wedgwood, and they had ten children. He spent his later years in Down House, Kent, continuing his scientific pursuits until his death in 1882.

The garden in down house has had a very significant meaning and impact throughout darwins life because he was also a commited naturalist he spent hours exploring all types of plants and animals of his garden which then led to him studying other types of animals.darwin decided to build a path around his house where he would walk around when he needed a break or time to think about his upcoming theories Darwin proceeded to experiment a lot of things first he started in his garden which then led him to support the evolution of the species.

DOWN HOUSE Its a place of great historical significance, its located in the city of down, england. Its most known as the home of charles darwin the naturalist whose amazing theories revolutionised our understanding of life on earth. Down house is one of the most cherised houses in the history of english science and anyone can go and visit Darwin bought down house in 1842 mainly for its location in nature and his family needs he moved to down house with his family the same year. Darwin lived here with his wife Emma Wedgwood and his 10 children including anne his favorite daughter and child in general. During the stay in his house he had to go through the pain of loosing 3 of his children before the age of 10 this includes anne who died at the age of 10 from tubercolosis then mary who dies at the age of 23 days and his last son charles who died at the age of 18 months because of down syndrome. One of the most significant aspects of this house is charles studies, this is where he performed all his studies he made ground breaking discoveries and wrote his most favorite book :" The origin of the species" if you go and visit the house you will notice that most of his journals are still intact and perfectly kept.

During his life he made a lot of discoveries all to support his theory on the evolution darwin stated that species can change overtime mainly depending on their habitats and needs he strongly believed that that all species came from a pre existant specie and that all species share a common ancestor these theories are proved to be partially correct they didnt have many resources at the time and helped to change course of how people thought about species
