Cabo Verde é uma nação localizada em um arquipélago vulcânico perto da costa noroeste da África. O país é conhecido por sua cultura crioula luso-africana, sua tradicional música morna e suas várias praias. A maior ilha do país, Santiago, abriga a atual capital, Praia. Em Santiago, também se encontra a antiga capital, Cidade Velha, com o Forte Real de São Filipe, que fica no topo de um penhasco.
