- Vernier® interface
- Vernier® temperature probe
- 250 or 500 mL beaker
- Forceps
- Plastic wash bottle
- 100 mL graduated cylinder
- Lamp with 100 watt bulb
- Balance
- Dry ice
- Distilled water
- Universal pH´s indicator
Per team bring...
- Laptop with Logger Pro installed.
- Masking Tape
- Marker (sharpie)
- Soil
Problem

Experiment 2.2
- Repeat the process in the second beaker.
- Add 1 cm of soil.
- Weight less than a gram of dry ice and place it into the beaker and close it TIGHTLY with the plastic wrap.
- Allow the dry ice to sublimate, you can help it by moving the beaker with the soil. DO NOT let the gas to escape!!
- Place the lamp about 3-5 cm from the beaker.
- Turn the lamp on and start the recording in Logger Pro.
- After 4 min, turn the lamp off and keep recording for 3 more min.
- Stop the recording and save the graph.
Measure the height reached by the CO2 gas from the water surface.
Step 4
Add a piece of dry ice into the water. Observe the changes in the color of the water. Register your observations
Step 3
Step 2
Step 1
Add two drops of universal indicator to the water
Pour 75 ml of tap water in the crystalizer dish
Experiment 2.1
- In a beaker, tape the tip of the Vernier probe to the ruler. The tip should be 3 cm from the border of the ruler
- Connect the Vernier probe into the computer with Logger Pro and set up the measurment to 10 min.
- Add 1 cm of soil into the beaker and close it TIGHTLY with the plastic wrap.
- Place the lamp about 3-5 cm from the beaker.
- Turn the lamp on and start the recording in Logger Pro.
- After 4 min, turn the lamp off and keep recording for 3 more min.
- Stop the recording and save the graph.
