INTRODUCTION

Table of Contents

Welcome to a super cool book of stories made by us, students from different European countries! Our inspiration mainly came from the songs featured in our music emagazine. These songs, originating from our own countries, touched on themes like Relationships, the Beauty of Nature, Dreams and Aspirations, and Social Problems. After a vote, we collectively decided that the central theme of our stories would be Relationships. Therefore, the 4 stories curated in this anthology can be seen as a creative reinterpretation of the narratives hidden within the 4 songs about relationships (the Italian song "Supereroi," the Greek song "Wherever is Love," the Romanian song "Galbena Gutuie," and the Turkish song "Sakin Ol"). We collaborated in teams to craft these captivating stories and each team had a unique role. Through this process, we gained insights into problem-solving, creativity, and empathy towards our characters' emotions. In these stories, you'll meet superheroes dealing with family stuff, kids facing tough times like illness and poverty, and characters learning to trust and love again. We hope you enjoy reading about these amazing friendships as much as we enjoyed writing about them!

"TOGETHER WE FLY"

Illustration created by Sofia from Italy

There were two friends in a big city, one named Mary and the other Emily. Mary had short hair and was thin, but she was very talented. Whereas Emily was thin and had long hair, but was very smart.

They fought with each other just like Iron Man and Spider-Man. They sacrificed for each other just like Black Widow and Hawkeye. When someone felt sad, the other was right there. This continued forever. On a cloudy morning Emily and Mary were walking to school together, but Mary looked worried… "Mary, you seem worried? Is everything OK?"- asked Emily. “Oh, nothing important. Just some things on my mind."- replied Mary. Emily looked at her friend suspiciously and added “Okay, but remember, you can always talk to me, if you need to, right?”

TOGETHER WE FLY

Mary smiled as she warmly thanked her friend. As the girls continued to talk about light topics, Mary’s facial expressions and occasional silences suggested that something serious was troubling her. After a while Emily brought up the conversation “Listen, Mary! I can sense you're hiding something. You look really upset. Are you sure you don't want to share?" Mary sighed before opening up: "Ok, you're right. My parents...they argue more and more, I wake up with their shouting and I can't sleep because of their arguments. It is also difficult for me to do my homework! I don't know how long I'll be able to handle this situation. And It's been a secret I've kept for a while."

Emily: “Oh wow, I didn't expect this news. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Are you sure you want to face this alone?” Mary: “I don't know... I'm scared of what the future holds and I feel so lonely."Emily: “First of all you’re not alone. We're friends, remember? And you can always count on me…. Secondly maybe it is just a bad period for you parents. You know, families always go through ups and downs, also my family experienced similar problems some years ago, but now everything is ok. So, Please, don’t be pessimistic! ” Mary goes home and as she walks through the door she sees her parents fighting. So she yells:

Illustration created by pupils from Thebes

"STOP!!! I don’t like this. I want my mum back and I want my dad back too. Stop fighting."

So Mary storms out of the room, she packs her bags and leaves to stay with Emily for a week. Seeing as she had no updates from her parents, she begins to worry, so she goes home, hugs them and says she is sorry. However, as Mary hugs her parents, they both stop and look at her with gentle eyes. “We apologize too,” her dad says, “We have been too focused on our own issues that we forgot what's really important – our family.” Her mom agrees, “Your dad and I have chosen to try again, for us and for you. " Mary is overwhelmed with happiness, she hugs and kisses them, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. After a moment, she whispers, "Emily! I must inform her about it. She has helped me so much. !"

Her mum says “No, your dad and I are getting a divorce. End of discussion.

As Mary and Emily grew older, their bond only grew stronger. They faced many more adventures together, always supporting each other through thick and thin. And so, with hearts full of love and friendship, our two heroes lived happily ever after, showing the world that true friendship can overcome any obstacle. Remember, kids, no matter what you face in life, always cherish the friends who stand by your side, for they are the real superheroes in your story.

BUILDING A WORLD OF HOPE

From Music to Storytelling

It's a cool fall evening, the moon shines brightly in Moscow. The sky is full of stars. It's partly cloudy. Forest is a bit creepily quiet. It's dark. The moonlight isn't enough to see around clearly. It's dinner time and they have to find their way home in this dark forest. The only thing they can see is the weakest light of a street bulb. They are trying to reach it by bumping into long, huge trees.

Ivan agrees, but as they walk, he is filled with numerous thoughts. Neda is so kind and different from his ex-girlfriend, who had broken his heart. With his eyes full of tears he vows not to let another woman hurt him like that again. They continue walking silently until they reach the main street. Suddenly they spot the lights of a car. It's Neda's mother, anxious about her daughter's delay. They escort Ivan home. Neda kisses Ivan on his cheek while saying “Take care of yourself. I’ll come Tomorrow. Good night”. Neda's mother's car slowly drives away, fading into the darkness and leaving Ivan truly confused. " Don’t be foolish!” he tells himself. “Neda’s just being nice, she’s just a good friend” . The pain he still feels for his ex fiancè makes him whisper: “No more!”

“Ivan! Are you okay?” – Neda asks with concern as she attempts to free her friend, who is stuck between his bike and the tree branches and leaves. “I’m alright, but my ankle…" - Ivan replies. "Let me check," Neda offers. "Oh no! I'm afraid your ankle is swollen, and the bike tire is flat. We need to walk home, but you can't with your ankle like this. These sticks and big leaves can be helpful!" As Neda starts to make a makeshift bandage with the leaves, Ivan can't help but admire her beauty - her lovely long hair shining in the moonlight. "What are you doing, Neda?" Ivan inquires as he notices her taking off her jacket. "It's getting colder, and the tree branches have ripped your sweatshirt. Please put your arm around my shoulder. I can help you walk home."

…Ivan’s voice trembles as he continues, “I’m scared, Neda. My past... I loved once and was left shattered. I’m afraid to suffer again.” Neda squeezes his hand, her eyes filled with empathy. “Ivan, I’m not her. I’m here, with you, now.

That night Ivan went to bed. It was a rainy night, the raindrops were falling gently on his window. He couldn't stop thinking about Neda. Ivan ended up loving her more than a friend. He slowly started to fall asleep. It's 3 in the morning, Ivan was just dreaming about Neda. He decided to call her and invite her to the park to talk about something. Neda is very worried and confused because, you know, why would he call at 3 in the morning. Something had to be wrong, so she decides to follow her intuition and go meet with him. When they reached the park, Ivan and Neda started walking, not saying anything yet. Ivan suddenly holds Neda's hand and she blushes. Then Ivan kisses her softly. They both say "I love you" but...

Our story is different, and I promise to be by your side through every storm.” They spend hours talking, sharing fears and dreams, under the shelter of an old oak tree. As dawn breaks, the park is bathed in a soft golden light, and the rain has stopped. Weeks turn into months, and their love only grows stronger. Ivan learns to trust again, and Neda never leaves his side. Ivan is happy and grateful “Neda", he says- "Thank you for teaching me to love again. Now I know that love can heal even the deepest wounds, and that with trust, anything is possible".

ILLUMINATING MEMORIES

The old streets of Bucharest are covered in a soft white layer of snow. You can smell the wood smoke coming from the chimneys. Even though it’s freezing, the city is lively and full of excitement. Pasaji Victoria, also known as Umbrella Street, looks magical with its Christmas decorations and fairy lights. People are out shopping for gifts and kids are happily making snowmen in the squares. All the houses are magically adorned with Christmas decorations: twinkling lights, wreaths on the doors and colourful ornaments on the windows.

ILLUMINATING MEMORIES

Amid all the festive cheer, there is one house that stands out. It’s different in its simplicity, with its thatched roof. There is no glittering decoration there. Through the window you can see a small kitchen, with a stove, two worn-out armchairs, and an old table. There is a poor meal on the table, just one loaf of bread and some medicines…. Beside the table stands Nancy. She appears to be 12 years old, of medium height, thin, with curly hair. "Mom, how long do I have to take these?" she asks as she points at the box of medicines. Susan sweetly smiles and gazes into her daughter's eyes.

Nancy smiles as her mother arranges the yellow quinces by the window. Now, their house looks much prettier. Nancy was so hungry that she took a bite out of one of the quinces...they were extremely poisoned. This was not normal, quinces don’t do that, but in the middle of Christmas, Nancy had to go to the hospital.

"My sweetie," she anwers, "until you are better, and I am sure you will be better very soon." "But mum, I'm tired of taking these expensive medicines! It's Christmas time while everyone in the neighborhood has beautiful decorations, we have none," complains Nancy. " Be quiet, Nancy! I know we need to save money since your father is away at war and the factory where I work... is struggling. But your health is more important than anything. Let's make our home the most unique and beautiful in the neighborhood. Could you pass me those yellow quinces behind the stove, please?" Nancy is surprised but hands them over. "Don't they smell lovely? Their color is stunning. Let's place them by the window; they will be our Christmas decorations."

Illustration created by students from Romania

The next morning, she is awoken by familiar voices full of joy. As she gets up, she sees her father in the kitchen, embracing her mother. Nancy shouts with joy and rushes to hug them. In the following days, Nancy feels stronger than ever. The doctors are surprised; all her symptoms have vanished. gets old and wrinkly. At the end, winter goes away, and the quince gets old and wrinkly. But Nancy, her father and Susan still feel happy and loved. They feel grateful and blessed: even though the quince changes, their love stays the same.

But she had no money and all the medical investigations were very expensive, so they kicked her out. This isn’t normal either, but it was happening to her and it hurt. When they got home, Nancy and her mother looked at the Christmas tree and found so many presents and so much food and so many quinces. Somehow, a tiny adorable puppy as well as money had magically appeared under the tree as well. The puppy was named Chris because they had gotten her on Christmas. Her mom was so happy seeing Nancy so overwhelmed with joy. The girl sees a rainbow quince and knows she has to take a bite in order to heal. Nancy reaches out to touch the rainbow quince, she closes her eyes and makes a wish for good health, peace, and her father's safe return. Her heart is filled with hope.

FINDING PEACE IN CHAOS

From Music to Storytelling

It's a warm Spring day, the sun has just gone down over the city of Smyrna. The sky is a beautiful mix of orange and pink hues, beautiful flowers decorate the sidewalks, and the little park by the old clock tower is bustling with happy children playing and laughing. It's time for iftar, during the holy month of Ramadan when families come together to enjoy breaking their fast. The delicious smell of food fills the air as grown-ups sit on blankets, sharing plates of food. FINDING PEACE IN CHAOS

“Melodie,” she says, “there’s something magical about breaking our fast this way. It connects us to generations before us.” Melodie, her plate half-empty, “I get it, Jasmine. But sometimes, I'd like some variety. You know, Lahmacun is delicious, but I miss the diversity of Western cuisine. The pastries, the cheeses, the decadent desserts.” Jasmine wipes her mouth with a napkin. “Melodie, we’re in Smyrna. This is our heritage. Our roots.” “But Jasmine,” Melodie insists, “roots can stretch and explore. Listen, next weekend, let’s organize a party. We’ll invite friends, play music, and feast with Western dishes..."

Two best friends, lean against the park’s wrought-iron fence. Jasmine, the taller of the two, has brown hair and hazel eyes sparkled with mischief. Melodie ,the shorter, has the same brown hair and brown eyes. Both of them are easy going, they like to have parties and make people smile. They are honest, helpful and thoughtful, but Melodie can get nervous easily, while Jasmine is always there for her. "Why don't we sit under that wonderful tree and have our meal"- asks Jasmine- "I'm really hungry!" The two friends sit on a checkered blanket, their plates filled with traditional Turkish iftar dishes. The air smells of spices and warm bread. Jasmine takes a bite of Lahmacun, savoring the blend of minced meat, onions, and herbs.

Lucas saw her running to the tower and asked her what had happened. Jasmine, very mad about what had happened at the party, said "What do you mean!?I saw you kissed Melodie!!!". Lucas also shocked said "I didn't kiss her!" Suddenly Jasmine's worst enemy, a girl who was jealous of Jasmine, heard the conversation between her and Lucas and she pushed Jasmine to fall from the tower. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" said Lucas. After some days Jasmine woke up in a hospital. At one moment Jasmine's enemy takes off her air tubes. Lucas comes in a hurry and puts the air tubes back in.

Jasmine accepted to make a party with her friends. The next day at the party Jasmine was in a white dress walking gently towards her boyfriend, Lucas, but she saw him kissing her best friend, Melodie. Jasmine, shocked, ran crying to a tower. .

Lucas, his brother and Melodie organize a new party: laughter and music fill the air as everyone dances and enjoys the festivities. There are traditional and western dishes and everyone is laughing and playing together, feeling grateful for the peace and happiness they've brought to their community.

He pushes the enemy away from the room. Lucas explains that he has a twin brother and he is Melodie's boyfriend. Suddenly they could hear sirens. "Who called the police?"asked Jasmine and Lucas answered "I did." As the sirens wail in the distance, Jasmine and Lucas sit together, the tension of the past days melting away. The police arrive and take Jasmine’s enemy into custody, ensuring she can no longer harm anyone else. Lucas’s twin brother, who had been mistaken for Lucas at the party, comes to the hospital with Melodie to apologize for the misunderstanding. In the weeks that follow, Jasmine makes a full recovery, and the community rallies around her, showing their support and love.
