Lesson Plan

  • Lesson planning determines the core of what happens in a school day.
  • If you want to have a successful day teaching, you must plan for it.
  • Although the full-year plan and unit plans are the backbone of the planning process, the daily lesson plans are what make lessons come to life for your students.
  • Daily lesson plans follow a specific format.

01

Organize your lesson plan

  • Lesson plans should be developmentally appropriate, which means that the skills match the ability of the students and provide for a gradual progression from the beginning of the lesson to the end.
  • In addition, there are several aspects to a properly prepared lesson plan:
a) Set inductionb) Connection to state and national standard c) Learning Outcomes d) Learning Content e) Learning Activities f) Learning Asessment g) Learning Material/Equipment and Organization h) Closure i) Reflection

The step in lesson plan

By providing a rationale for how the lesson and lesson objectives are connected to state and national standards, you will be able to demonstrate to others (i.e., administrators) that you are teaching in a manner that achieves the standards.

1. Set induction

3. Learning Outcomes

  • Learning outcomes describe the measurable skills, abilities, knowledge or values that students should be able to demonstrate as a result of a completing a learning.
  • They are student-centered rather than teacher-centered, in that they describe what the students will do, not what the teacher will teach.

Set induction (anticipatory set) refers to the process of using a thought-provoking statement, interesting fact, or an audio-visual stimulus at the beginning of teaching to gain student's attention and give an overview about the learning topic.

2. Connection to state & national standard

The step in lesson plan

  • Lesson content acts as the backbone of any learning experience.
  • It gives the necessary information and guidance for learners to grasp new concepts, acquire skills, and broaden their understanding of the subject matter.
  • Well-designed and engaging lesson content lays the foundation for effective teaching and learning.

Learning Activities/ experience

  • Assessment involves students and teachers in continuous monitoring of students' learning.
  • It gives students a measure of their progress as learners. It provides opportunity for close observation of students in the process of learning

“A learning experience is a holistic experience that is intentionally designed and carefully crafted to help the learner achieve a meaningful learning outcome that is (mostly) predefined.” - Niels Floor

Learning Assessment

Learning Content

The step in lesson plan

When instructors engage in reflective teaching, they are dedicating time to evaluate their own teaching practice, examine their curricular choices, consider student feedback, and make revisions to improve student belonging and learning.

All necessary materials and equipment for the lesson should be identified. Always plan for more equipment than the number of students in your class.

Closure

what the instructor does to facilitate wrap-up at the end of the lesson - it is a. quick review, to remind students what it was that they have learned (or should have learned) and allows you to see where the students are to assist you in planning for the next lesson.

We better grasp visual content. Visual content is associated with cognitive and psychological mechanisms. Things enter through the eyes, the first image is what counts. We associate visual content with emotions.
