Constructive/ Divergent Boundary
Group #1
Does this type of movement cause earthquakes?
- YES! They happen sometimes, but they are weak
What type of movement is caused in your assigned boundary and why it happens?
The plates move in the opposite direction. This mobilization is caused by the rise of magmatic material from the mantle, which when it reaches the surface and becomes the ocean floor.
Where can we finf this type of tectonics boundaries?
This happens in the oceans at mid-ocean ridges. It also happens on land in tectonic trenches. The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is an example of a divergent boundary, where the Eurasian plate covering all of Europe separates from the North American plate
Does this type of movement cause volcanos?
YES! Volcanoes are mainly the result of the Divergent tectonic activity in the Earth's crust.
