What is mma?

Brief history of MMA sport

History of mma

the mixed martial arts is an international billionaire industry that packs stadiums, floods pay-per-views and shakes people's minds.

starting in the ancient olympic games, the forgotten sport of pankration, where 2 olympians fought against each other in a hybrid form of combat combining the skills of grappling and striking. And, of course, the competitions were only won by either knock out or submission.

but the industry only really started in the free-for-all fights of Brazil's Vale Tudo, in the 20th century. in The '80s, it was introduced structure to this new fighting sport with Japan's Shooto, adding rules and weight classes.although, things started to get more seriously after the birth of the ultimate fighting championship (ufc) in 1993, who fullfilled everything the sport was lacking to become a professional fighting sport.

Origin of the ufc and it's global reach

starting in 1993 as a professional MMA organization, UFc revolutionized the fight business and today stands as a premium global sports brand. The goal was to find “the Ultimate Fighting Champion” by staging a tournament featuring the best athletes in the various disciplines of all martial arts. The winner of the tournament would be crowned the champion.

despite the controversies, over the years, UFC has consistently strived for the highest levels of safety and quality in all aspects for it's fighter's and the sport.
