• O nosso mundo é um mundo alegre e cheio de cor, no entanto, já notaste que as cores dos objectos são diferentes quando iluminados pela luz do Sol, por uma lâmpada de incandescência ou quando iluminados pelas lâmpadas de vapor de sódio "amarelas" muito utilizadas na iluminação pública.

• Os artistas usam pigmentos e tintas para pintarem os seus quadros. As suas cores primárias são o amarelo, o ciano e o magenta que resultam da subtracção das cores primárias "Azul, verde e vermelho" que incidem nesses pigmentos.

• Em óptica, aquelas cores são secundárias e resultam da adição das cores primárias.
