Introduction
What is the Bill of Rights? Why was it included in the Consitution?
The Bill of Rights refers to the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution, which were ratified in 1791. These amendments outline fundamental rights and protections for individuals, limiting the powers of the federal government and safeguarding citizens' liberties. The inclusion of the Bill of Rights in the Constitution was a response to concerns raised by Anti-Federalists during the ratification process. Many Anti-Federalists feared that the original Constitution did not provide adequate protections for individual rights. To address these concerns and garner broader support for the Constitution, the Founding Fathers agreed to add a series of amendments that explicitly outlined certain rights and limited government authority.
