LIFEON LAND

The United Nations developed 17 goals to achieve a more sustainable world for everyone.Goal 15 is about protecting and restoring terrestrial ecosystems. (UN, 2023)

How does it affect our health?

What does loss of forest mean?

Why should we care?

Between 2015 and 2019, around 100 million hectares in good conditions were degraded every year, affecting the lives of 1.3 billion people (UN, 2023)

2015

2019

What can we do?

We need to buy just what we need and stop over consuming

support reforestation campaigns and be a volunteer

Consuming from sustainable companies to be part of the change.

How does it affects our health?

The increased demans of animal protein, intense farming, the explotation of wildlife, and climate crisis are driving to zoonotic diseasesEvery year two million people die from neglected zoonotic diseases, and these have caused economic losses of more than $100 billion, not including the cost of the COVID-19 pandemic. (UN, 2023)

Loss of forests

Is the dissappearance of resources in rural communities, increasing carbon emissions. Diminished biodiversity and the degradation of land are also part of this loss. The above has caused species' extinctions which are irreversible and affect the ecosystems by making them more fragile. Around 1 million animals and plants are in risk of extinction and this num bers are higher than ever before in human history.

(UN, 2023)

We should care

Forests cover nearly 31 per cent of the world and are the home of more than the 80% of the terrestrial species. With the fast declining of biodiversity we are not only loosing species but also our resources. Because of this, climate change is being intensified and there are more risks of disasters. (UN, 2023)
