EFFECT OF PH ON PLANT GROWTH

MAXIMILIANO PERALTA PROYECT

HYPOTHESIS

OBJECTIVE

Effect of pH on Plant Growth: Hypothesis: If the pH of the soil is altered, then the growth of plants will be affected. Subtopic: Testing different pH levels (acidic, neutral, alkaline) on plant growth.

The main objective of this school project is to investigate the properties of pH and its impact on various substances. Through a series of experiments, students will explore the concept of pH, understand its importance in different contexts, and develop critical thinking and analytical skills.

MATERIALS

PROCEDURE

Small potted plants Soil pH testing kit Water with varying pH levels (acids and bases)

Plant each potted plant in soil with a different pH level. Water each plant with water of the corresponding pH level. Observe and record plant growth over a specified period.

Scientific Explanation:

  • Explain the role of pH in nutrient absorption and plant metabolism.
  • Relate the observed plant growth to the pH levels in the soil and water.

Conclusion:

It was evident that plants exhibited the best growth within a specific pH range. Deviating from this optimal range, whether towards acidity or alkalinity, resulted in diminished plant health and stunted growth. This underscores the importance of maintaining the appropriate pH level in the soil for cultivating thriving plants.
