In Pennsylvania, you have to be at least 16 years old to get your learner's permit. Before you can test for your permit, there are a few things you have to do first.

In order to learn to drive, you must first have certain things: 1. Complete the Permit Application. 2. Have the back of the form completed by your doctor. 3.Have your parents complete the Parent Consent Form.

Your parent/guardian must have the following when you go to take your permit test: 1. A current utility bills (water, gas, electric, cable, and so on) 2. Your W-2 form 3. Your tax records 4. Your current weapons permit (for U.S. citizens only) 5. Your lease agreements 6. Your mortgage documents

But before you get to this step, you need to prepare for the test itself!

Requirements of your Learner's Permit:

  • You may only drive under the supervision of a licensed driver who is at least 21 years of age or a parent, guardian, person in loco parentis, or spouse who is 18 years of age or older and holds a driver's license. The supervising driver must sit in the front seat.
  • You may not carry more passengers than seat belts available in the vehicle you are driving.
