Airplanes
Airplanes during this time period gave many advantages to during the war. The main use of the planes during World War 1 was reconnaissance or to observe enemies. Another way they used the airplanes, is they also used it to drop bombs. Dropping bombs from planes are a huge advantage, usally your would have to throw or place the bomb somewhere, and then run. Now, they just fly away safely, which saves lifes in the U.S. Army.

Liberty Bonds
Liberty Bonds is when you pay the government some money, and then with interest, like a loan, the government will give you the money back after the war is over. This has had many opportunities for people to get money, and also the same time, it helped the government get funds for the war. As usual, things don't work out as smoothly as planned. After the war, the government was having trouble paying back all the people who bought the Liberty Bond, this eventually lead the country to go into recession.

Trench Warfare
Trench Warfare was trenches that were dug out of the ground for protection, but they lost the ability to mobilize. There were about 35,000 miles of trenches that spread from the North Sea to Switzerland. Typically, during World War 1, there were 2-4 trenches that were parallel to each other, dug in a zig-zag shape. Normally, the end of the trenches consisted of communication trenches where food, ammunition, mail, and orders were delivered.

Zimmerman Note
The Zimmerman Note was sent to Mexico all the way from Germany written by the Zimmermann Telegraph. When it was on its way to Mexico, the British intelligence intercepted it, and they decoded the message. It was saying for Mexico to join the war on Germany's side and to invade the United States if they declare war on Germany. After the United States heard about this, they joined the side of the Allies in the war.

Women Opportunities in ww1
During World War 1, women gained many job opportunities and also a place for them in the military. Over 13,000 women were enrolled in the Navy or the Marines. They served as nurses, secretaries, and telephone operators, they also got full military rank. When they served with the Army Corps of Nurses, they got the rank for serving there, but they were paid half of what the male nurses were paid. Since a lot of men were out fighting, women played a big role in treating the injured soldiers.
