Examples

1) It´s possible I lost my wallet on the bus. 2) I´m certain she went to bed early, her lights were off at 10pm. 3) Jake didn´t have homework so maybe/perhaps he is playing now. 4) I´m certain/sure she isn´t driving now, her car broke down this morning. 5) I´m sure she didn´t steal the jewels, she was with me last night. 6) Maybe she was having a shower when I called her. 7) She loves her job but I´m sure she needs a day off as well.

STRUCTURE: Subject + Modal Vb +(not) + HAVE + Vb p.p (v3 irregular verbs) e.g: "She shouldn´t have told you that!"

USES: Actions or situations that happened in the past.
