Deltoids

Where?

The deltoids are located on the outside of the shoulder, as the muscle that gives it its rounded shape

What do they do?

The deltoid's functions include raising your arm out to the side of your body.

How can we strengthen them?

You can exercise your deltioids by doing reps with dumbells side to side and up and down.

Biceps

Where?

The biceps are located on the upper arm, between the shoulder and the elbow.

What do they do?

The biceps are supposed to help you flex your forearm and elbow.

How can we strengthen them?

Normally, when training your biceps, you can get a dumbell and try to lift it over your head. This will make them more agile and more muscular.

Triceps

Where?

The triceps are just below the biceps, still taking place in the upper arm.

What do they do?

The triceps' function is to be the extension of the elbow joint

How can we strengthen them?

Pushups are a great way to strenthen your triceps, as well as bench dips and tricep push downs, whch consist of a rope having a certain weight, and you facing the opposite way so you can pull the rope down all the way.

Pectorals

Where?

Pectorals are located on the anterior chest wall.

What do they do?

Pectorals are meant to allow you to move your sholder freely.

How can we strengthen them?

Pectorals are very easy to work out, with things like bench presses and any types of push ups.

Abdominal Muscles

Where?

The abdominal muscles are located between the ribs and the pelvis on the front of the body.

What do they do?

The abdominal muscles hold organs in place and allow upper body and lower body movement such as turning around or crouching down for something.

How can we strengthen them?

Workouts for these muscles include russian twists and toe touches.

Quadriceps

Where?

The quadriceps are found at the front of your thigh.

What do they do?

This muscle helps you straighten your knee to do things such as kick, run, walk, and jump.

How can we strengthen them?

Any type of squats will endure your quadriceps. With equipment, you can do band squats with an elastic band.

Calves

Where?

The calves are located on the back of the lower leg.

What do they do?

Your calf enables you to stand and stabelizes the rest of your body when doing so.

How can we strengthen them?

Walking, running, and hiking make your calves stronger and more endurant.

Lumbar

Back muscles

Where?

The lumbar is located at the lower vertebrae.

What do they do?

The lumbar is supposed to support most of your body's weight

How can we strengthen them?

To strengthen your lumbar you have to lie on your back with knees bent and just your heels on the floor. Push your heels into the floor, squeeze your butt, and lift your hips off the floor until shoulders, hips, and knees are in a straight line.

Dorsal

Where?

The dorsal is at the upper part of the back.

What do they do?

The function is to pull the inferior angle of the scapula in various directions.

How can we strengthen them?

The curl-up, the side plank, and the bird-dog are all wokouts you can try to strengthen the dorsal.

Fun facts!

  1. All the muscles work in pairs. Meanwhile one contracts, the other relaxes. Take the biceps and triceps for example. While the bicep contracts the tricep relaxes. Same thing the other way around.
  2. With this presentation we learned about 8 muscles. Did you know there are over 600 muscles in our body and that they represent 40% of our body weight?
  3. The muscles that I've presented here, are all part of voluntary movement. That means that they're muscles that you can control. There are also muscles that you can't control such as the heart and the diaphragm.
  4. The biggest muscle is the gluteus maximus. The smallest muscle is in your inner ear.
  5. Muscles are important for keeping posture and balance. If you don't exercise, they shrink. So.. LET'S KEEP MOVING!
