Godzilla Minus one was released firstly in Japan on the third of November 2023 wich was Godzilla´s 69 Birthday and was then released world wide on the first of December 2023.It has won so far a total of 90 Million USD wich currently wouldn´t sound like alot but what makes it special is that it costed less than 15 million dollars to make and its hard to see with the amazing visuals of the movie. It is PG-13 rated and involves in the sci-fi and action genre. And was directed by Takashi Yamkazi.

Plot

The next morning Shikishima wakes up to all the dead bodies left by Gojira with Tachibana being the only one left and blames the tragedie on Skikishima for not shooting later when he returns from the war to Japan he finds the aftermath of the air-raids and one of his friends realizes he´s still alive indicating he didn´t do his job and calls him a disgrace because her children died during the air-raids. Then someone he never knew named Noriko asks him for help to take after an orphaned baby and he does and in the next couple years everyone recovers from the war but someone or rather something got in between the american nuclear tests.

Shikisima a kamakazi pilot in WW2 lied about his plane not working because he was scared of his mission in the island one of the mechanincs Tachibana finds out about this but sympathyses with Shikishima about his fear of dying. Later that night a dinosaur appears and Tachibana tells Shikishima to shoot it with the 20 mm gun from the plane but when Shikishima gets the chance he freezes in fear at the sight of the monster one of the mechanics out of fear shoots at the creature wich they call Gojira only angering him and thus getting them killed.

Gojira is the japanese name for Godzilla he acts as the main villain and an sinful reminder to Koichi Shikishima as he only exists because of him being a coward and and not doing his dutie as he was suppose to.

Tachibana is a mechanic who was with Shikishima when they first encountered Godzilla and hated him ever since for not shooting and at the end of the movie he´s asked to make a plane that could kill Godzilla.

She´s a woman who found a dying mother who asked her to look after her baby and without thinking twice accepted and falls in love with Koichi while they look after the baby finally both confessing they´re love.

Koichi Shikishima is the main protagonist and is a kamakazi pilot who got scared and left and when he first met Godzilla had the chance to potentially kill him when he was the small but got scared and now has his fear come back.

MovieCritics

It may be surprise to many but Godzilla Minus One although hasn´t gained much in the box office has done wonderous results in the critics being the movie with best movie critics in 2023 even surpassing Breaking Bad and many more making it one of the best reviewed movies in film history. According to Rotten Tomatoes.

Side note: Barbie and Oppenheimer are not the top 3 or 2 reviewed movies of 2023.

Where to watch

Although it has left movie theaters it is still streaming in various platfroms such as Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+ and the one I recommend the most Movies2Watch some may still not have it but it is definetly going through the effort to watch it because its a very well done Godzilla movie and movie in general.
