The meaning of stereotype and misconception
Stereotype - A Belief or idea about a particular group of people or things. It involves assigning certain characteristics or traits to all members of that group.
Misconception - A misconception is a incorrect belief or interpretation about a particular subject or issue. It arises from misunderstandings, misinformation, or lack of knowledge.
Examples of Stereotypes
Cultural Stereotypes - Generalization that all individuals of Latin American descent are involved with illegal activities or immigration issues. Religious Stereotypes - Associating all Muslims with terrorism or extremism based on the actions of a few. Racial Stereotypes - Stereotype that all Black individuals are athletically gifted but less intelligent. Gender Stereotypes - Expectation that all men should be stoic, tough, and avoid showing vulnerability. Disability Stereotypes - Perceiving people with intellectual disabilities as incapable of meaningful contributions to society.
