Britons
The britons are the firts inhabitants of this beautiful area. They were pre-ceòtic tribes. They settled in south part of Enlgand. They spoke a kind of dialet and They made the famous archeologic site "Stonehenge". It's thoght to be an astronomic clock. These structures, composed of three blochs, have two stone blocks fixed vertically to the ground, the piers, which are surmounted by one placed horizontally, the architrave.

Celts
The celts were tribes of warriors, who shared a similar language, religion and culture. They gradually settled in the country between the 500-1000 b.C. They were hunters, fishermen and metal workers. They brought the iron and with the iron they built the plough. They built hill forts, were built on thr top of a hill surroundes by banks and ditches. The basic unit of the Celts was the clan. They worshipped nautral elements like the sun, the moon and the water. The women had more rights and more equal status then the men.

The Romans arrived in Britain in 55 b.C. with Giulio Cesare. The most important monument built was the Hadrian's wall, built in 121 A.D. This wall divided Scotland and England. They built a sistem of roads, the London Bridge, London City and They gave to a lot of important city at the places that finish with "chester". In 410 A.D. the romans left England because They had to protect the impero.

The Anglo-Saxons
They come from Scandinavian area. The Anglo-Saxons were germanic tribes, and They arrived beetwen the 5 and the 6 centuries. They used the runic alphabet. They lived in wooden houses which They built near rivers. They were organised into family groups. The dialet spoken by the different tribes, evolved over time and togheter became known as Old English.

Viking
They arrived from overseas between 8 and 9 centuries. THey came from Norway, Sweden and Denmark. They attacked the monastery of Lindisforme in 793 and gradually settled in the country. They wore horned helmets, were simple skull caps to protect the head. They were extremel violent, someone called them "wolves of war". When They attcked, They took everithing They wanted and left.

The Heptarcy
After theAnglo-Saxons invasion, Britain was divided into severeal local kingdoms. By the beginnings of the 7 century, seven main kingdoms developed which incorporated the smaller ones. They were called heptarcy. The three largest kingdoms, Northumbria, Mercia and Wessex.

The Norman conquest
The Normans were viking who had settled in northen France. They were led by William. Duke of Normandy. The norman conquest was the 11 century invasion and occupation of England by an army made up of thousand of Norman, Britain, Fenich and French troops, all led by duke of Normandy.
