The Blitz began in September 1940. It lasted 8 months. Hitler wanted to invade Britain/the United Kingdom. Sixteen cities were bombed. London was bombed 71 times. It destroyed over a million homes and killed over 40 000 civilians. It forced mass evacuation too. By May 1941, Britain still refused to give in so Hitler decided to give up his plan to invade Britain. He launched operation Barbarossa to invade Russia.
