AIMS OF THE LESSON

Today's aims of the lesson is to identify the ranks of the Royal Australian Air ForceThe abbreviation used for the rank and what their cap badge looks like

REASONS FOR LEARNING

So that you as a cadet will have the knowledge to interact with the RAAF by their significant rankExpand your knowledge of the ranks within the RAAF

01. Aircraftman/Aircraftwomen

AC and ACW are the lowest ranks in the Royal Australian Air ForceThey are also the lowest Junior Aviators as Leading Aircraftman/woman come after it The metal badge, features the central RAAF motif, with the King's crown on the top, and is surmounted by an oakleaf and garland wreath

02. Leading Aircraftman/Woman

In the Royal Australian Air Force the Leading Aircraftman/woman have one chevron. Their abbreviations are LAC and LACW and they are the highest rank in Junior Aviators

03. Corporal

A Corporal (CPL) in the Royal Australian Air Force has two chevrons on its rank They are the only rank that is considered as a Non-Commissioned officer

04. Sergeant

The rank Sergeant refers to a non-commissioned officer that is placed above a Corporal making this rank a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer The Sergeant rank has three chevrons on its rank Their abbreviation is SGT

05. Flight Sergeant

Flight Sergeant (FSGT) is a Senior non-commissioned officer, and it comes after Sergeant making its rank higher than an SGT The Flight Sergeant rank slide features of three chevrons and the St Edward's Crown

06. Warrant Officer

The Warrant Officer's cap badge includes of: Centrally an eagle in flight that is supported by four laurel sprigs surmounted by a crown. Their rank slide doesn't have any chevrons as the Australian Coat of Arms take place Their abbreviation is WOFF

06. Warrant Officer of the AirForce

The Warrant Officer of the Air Force (WOFF-AF) is the senior Warrant Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). This position is unique, held by only one person at a time. The insignia for the WOFF-AF includes the Australian Coat of Arms encircled by a wreath of Australian native flora.
