Socratic Seminars

Students lead a class discussion around a text. Students come up with the questions and discuss the text. For example, world music or musical time periods would be great units of study for this exercise.

Give the students a word, concept or question to answer. Students add ONE image and ONE word/phrase to explain their thinking. Students can present their slide. Click the pencil for more information and a variety of templates. For example, this would be great with instrument families.

Create activities for students to explore material on their own. For example, have students explore a certain musical time period and draw conclusions about the music from that time.
