Pros and cons
01
Vocabulary reduced to 1500 terms
What is Globish?
02
Globish is a simplified version of English language, consisting of the most common English words & phrases, enabling non-English-speakers to communicate
Direct and simple language
03
Easier to learn
It was originally created by Jean-Paul Nerriere in 2004 who aimed to simplify English. The main goal was make grammer more accessible and not so strict.
‘Globish is not a language, it is a tool... A language is the vehicle of a culture. Globish doesn´t want to be that at all. It is a means of communication.’
- Jean-Paul Nerrière
Does everyone speak Globish?
Example
Other examples
Instead of saying niece or nephew they say the son/daughter of my brother; Instead of using the term bun in the oven, they simply say pregnant.
Pros & cons
01
It is a simplified language, taking up to 3-6 months to learn;
02
It is a tool for communication, offering more job opportunities ;
The inability to express certain sentiments, limitation of 1500 words, not to mention there are a lot of errors (it can be hard to understand natives);
03
04
Rejection by native English speakers.
In conclusion...
The Globish language is a junction of global and English, originating a tool for communication. Although it may carry some disadvantages there is no doubt it has become useful to non-native English speakers.
In my perspective, Globish should not become a global language. It is vital to enrichen your vocabulary and preserve the diversity of languages around the world.
Thank you for your attention!
