  • It's a preconceived judgment.
  • It can become stereotype.

Stereotypes

  • Is the association that one has about the characteristic of a group.
  • Prevents individuals' knowledge.

Three levels of stereotypes:

How are the stereotypes developed?

  • No one is born with stereotypes, they are learned throughout our lives through the socialization.
  • Media and culture have an important role in the construction or destruction of stereotypes.

How can this lead to a barrier to social inclusion?

  • Stereotypes can be based on characteristics such as gender, race, profession, nationality and more.
  • It can also lead to low self-esteem and low self-confidence.

What can we do to stop this problem??

We can break down this barrier through:- education;- awareness; - open dialogue; - positive interactions.
