Benefits of social networks
Social networks have multiple benefits for our cognitive and social development. One of the advantages is connectivity, as we can connect with anyone in the world to share thoughts, ideas, opinions and feelings. In addition, social networks are useful for education, both for students and teachers.
Benefits of friendship
Friends provide emotional support and motivation to learn, which reduces depression, anxiety and loneliness, as well as the negative effect of rejection, victimization and bullying. In addition, friendship provides a context for social, emotional and cognitive development, and is presented as an environment of equal social power, different from relationships with parents or teachers.
So-called digital natives, students who have grown up in a digital world, need creative and innovative engagement in learning. Traditional teaching methods must be replaced by highly interactive strategies that develop 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and assertive communication.
