Who was George Washington?
- Xbirth: February 22nd 1732, Westmoreland County, Virginia, USA
- Xfamily: Martha Washington (wife), Mary Ball Washington (mother), Augustine Washington (father), 5 siblings
- Xhe was the eldest child
- Xhis father owned a plantation (Mount Vernon)
- Xhe became one of the richest landowner in Virginia
- He protested against British ruledx RULE.

Why is George Washington important?
- he led the Colonial Army to victory of the War of Indipendence (1775-1783)
- he helped produce the Constitution
- 1789: he became the first president of the USA without one vote against
- 1792: he was elected for the second time
- he thought that the USA should be neutral in foreign affairs, so he tried to find a balance between Federalists and Democratic-Republicans.
- In 1794 farmers in Pennsylvania rebelled against the whiskey tax, so he sent soldiers to end the rebellion
