La teoria del colore
A seguito dell’esperimento del prisma, Newton pubblica nel 1704 una forma di classificazione dei colori dello spettro solare in forma di cerchio, sistema che diventerà il metodo grafico utilizzato datutte le teorie del colore fino a quella di Itten, indubbiamente la più conosciuta e diffusa ancora oggi.
MESCOLANZE CROMATICHE
I colori che siamo in grado di distinguere sono milioni. Eppure per crerare qualsisi colore ne bastano solo tre:
- CIANO
- MAGENTA
- GIALLO
IL CERCHIO DI ITTEN
Queste mescolanze sono riprodotte nel cerchio dei colori di Johannes Itten, un'artista svizzero e teorico del colore. Il suo cerchio riporta esternamente anche i colori terziari, cioè quelli che si ottengono unendo un primario e un secondario.

Il colori che siamo in grado di distinguere sono milio-ni. Eppure, per creare qualsiasi colore usando i pigmenti (cioè vernici, tempere o inchiostri), ne bastano solo tre. Questi colori sono chiamati colori primari e sono il ciano (che è un azzurro chiaro), il magenta (un rosa molto intenso) e il giallo (la tinta dei limoni). Mescolati tra loro a due a due danno i colori secondari e cioè il blu, il rosso e il verde. Se si mescolano tutti e tre i primari si ottiene il nero.
