there was a civil rights protest in Washington. Martin Luther King take a speech

He accepted a job in a city called Montgomery (Alabama)

the American Government passed the Civil Rights Act

he died for a gunshot the same year

In this city there was a lot of racism and discrimination. He joined the local chapter of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and became vice president of the Alabama Council on Human Relations.
He lived his whole childood in the bourgoise part of the city. He graduated at only 17 years old and he wanted to became a pastor like his father.
Martin Luther King spoke to the people about his dream for the future: freedom and equality for all Americans. He began with the words: ‘I have a dream’. His speech is famous all over the world.
finally African Americans had the same rights as white Americans
it was against the prohibition of colored people to seat on the seats reserved to white people on the busses. The protest consisted in the boycott of all the busses to make this change.
