PRAGUE

1/10

Prague is the capital of Czech Republic. It is known as "the golden city" or as the "heart of Europe", and is the biggest city of Czechia. It is a huge city, 6 times bigger than Paris, and is divided in 22 districts, which contain 57 neighbourhoods. We have chosen this city because we were there last year and we loved it (the huge castle, its people...). The city is a big cultural center in which different ethnic groups live together. Although it could look like an elegant city with old facades, it has a lot of districs or neighbourhoods where the street art is valued. They even make proyects to encourage this kind of art.

THE NEIGHBOURHOODS

Žižkov

One of the neighbourhoods where you can see more street art in Prague is Zizkov, located in the east of the city center, between the districs 3, 8 and 10. It is known as one of Prague's bohemian neighbourhoods because over the years lots of artists have lived or acted there. Zizkov is a very special neighbourhood where teenagers can have fun on the pubs, this area is very different compared to the rest of the city.

Holešovice

Another neighbourhood that support the street art is Holesovice. This is located in the north of the city, in the disctrict number 7. As well as Zizkov this neighbourhood is one of the "alternatives" of the city. There are lots of pubs for young people and many techno discoteques located in old, abandoned factories. The street art can be found anywhere there.

Dzia, a street artist from Antwerp, has gained international notoriety for his murals representing wild animals. His works, which have been seen in Prague, Norway and Spain, feature mainly foxes and birds, which are portrayed in a unique style that combines colors and contours. Her work seeks to incorporate animals into urban environments, using bold geometric lines. Dzia has expressed that art has always been a passion for him and that he finds inspiration spontaneously. In addition to his murals, he has also created a fanzine called "Krank" to support other artists he admires.
