Weak hero class' plot
Weak hero class 1 is a south korean drama starring Choi Hyun-wook, Park Ji-hoon and Hong Kyung. It was released in 2022 and it's based on a webtoon novel , with the same name as the series, which was published in 2018. PLOT Yeon Si-eun is the top student in his class and studying is his priority. Eventhough he is physically weak, he doesn't back down from the bullies in his class, such as Jeong Yeon-bin, using his knowledge of physics and the objects that are sorrounding him. When the bullying was getting too severe he receives help from Ahn Soo-ho, the strongest fighter in the class, and Oh Beom-seok, the son of an assemblyman.
Ahn Soo-ho (안수호)
He is considered a free spirit and the strongest fighter in the class thanks to the classes he took to become a MMA fighter. He doesn't care that much about school but, since he promised to his grandmother that he would graduate, he sleeps at school to attend every class every single day. He is loyal and kind to his friends but he's quick-tempered. He uses his fighting skills to end arguments and to protect his friends. He became good friends with Si-eun after he convinced Beom-seok to help him defending their future friend. At the end of the season he went into a coma after Beom- seok tried to kill him.
Yeon Si-eun (연시은)
He is a model student and an outsider by choice, his life is based completely on studies. He has a beautiful face but he carries a serious expression. He is usually quiet but his speech is very straightforward and it usually causes misunderstandings. When the lead bully of the class Yeong-bin targets him out of jealousy, he doesn't back down and responds with escalating acts of violence. When he was about to risk his life because of him, he gets unexpected help from Ahn soo-ho and Oh Beom-seok, future friends and allies, people for whom he would risk his life .
Oh Beom-seok (오범석)
He is a shy boy who wishes to become powerful like the people around him. He's the adopted son of a wealthy assemblyman but expierences emotional and physical abuse by him. He changed school due to the bullies from his previous one, but as soon as he met the ones from his class he figured that things weren't about to change. Yeong-bin forced him to help him bully Si-eun, but he ended up helping him out of guilt and convinces Soo-ho to come along. Even though they became good friends and allies, Beom-seok's inferiority complex tears them apart.
Friendship and betrayal
Oh Beom-seok and Jeon Seok-dae taught me what betrayal is and what it feels like. Beom-seok betrayed Si-eun and Soo-ho because of his inferiority complex and that led them to tear apart. Seok-dae betrayed his gang to help those three "friends". The difference here is the purpose: Seok-dae wanted to help, Beom-seok wanted to feel powerful.
Yeon Si-eun and Ahn Soo-ho taught me what friendship is. It's not a matter of time, it's what you'd do for each other. Si-eun broke his arm to protect Soo-ho during his birthday. Soo-ho went into a coma because he wanted revenge for what happened to his friend. They'd do everything in their power to protect the other one even though they just met.
Mental Health
In this tv series mental health is based more on the presence of the parents in a child's life. Most of the cases that are pointed out is the show concerns the physical absence of Yeon Si-eun's mother, and the lack of attention from his father. There are lots of other situations like: Beom-seok being abused by his father. The absence of a parent figure is a source of pain for the characters: theymay feel abandoned, unworthy of love or neglected, which can be manifested as anger, loneliness and sadness. Despite there being a strong negative impact on their mental health is precisely from the absence of parents that derives the indipendence and the strength. They learn how to take important decisions, what to prioritize and they become more indipendent. This independence allows them to build their self-confidence and self-reliance, as well as develop their own values and beliefs.
Bullying
This drama main topic is bullying, which leads to the worst-case scenario. It starts with Jeon Young-bin gaining the highest score in a maths test along with Si-eun. Young-bin and his group decide to target him after he didn't quiver before him. Instead, he stands up for himself. Beom-seok decided to move schools because of the bullying in his previous one, but when Young-bin learns about it, he threatens him to put a bandage laced with drug on Si-eun's neck during an exam. This made him feel dizzy, which led him to leave the class and fail the test. Beom-seok is a fragile victim who was healing after befriending Si-eun and Soo-ho but, after his last bullies find him again, he falls into a dark hole. Overall, this show points out how bullying can affect someone's life, especially if that someone in still a child. This tv series also makes us wonder wether it's better to speak or to die, they'll know the answer to this question by the end of the last episode, and they'll regret it.

He is the leader of a group of delinquents who get involved with Si-eun and his friends when his cousin, Young-bin asks for his help in retaliating. He looks indifferent but actually cares deeply for his friends, especially Yeong-yi.
