Anticipation Phase
We offer New Hire Orientation to kick off your introduction to GOAL High School! This is a 4-day online experience, followed by region and site-specific orientation with colleagues and your supervisor. You will meet your TOSA (instructional coach), as well as your mentor. Your mentor or supervisor will meet you at the site. During this time you will get your technology and learn to use it!
Survival Phase
During the survival phase, you will meet with yout supervisor for your self evaluation meeting. You will meet with your instructional coach to begin planning out a coaching cycle and your focus on improving data. You will have opportunities to participate in professional learning opportunites to learn from your colleagues.
Disillusionment Phase
In this phase, you will be able to access continuing supports, including Gladiator Forums, supervisor feedback meetings, instructional coach time, and mentor conversations. We realize this is a difficult time, so we limit required meetings as much as possible.
Rejuvenation Phase
In this phase, which usually happens after winter break, you will start to feel revitalized! You will have opportunities to analyze data in PLCs and learn from colleagues during monthly Gladiator Forums. Take time to reflect on your practice and experiment with small changes.
Reflection Phase
During reflection, the end of the year is near! You have made it through an entire year, the ups, the downs, and the sideways. This time is perfect to make plans for the following year. You will meet with your supervisor for your final evaluation and wrap up your coaching cycle. Be sure to connect with your mentor!
Anticipation...again?
What is this? Another anticipation phase? Yes! Teachers go through these phases each year. Some years have larger or small phases but expect to experience these feelings in some form every year. You will learn how to manage each phase and how to provide self care during these times.
