POST-WORK (optional)
Think about tasks that you can offer the participants to keep implementing what they have learned after the workshop. Typically, these are individual actions, although you could encourage them to share the outcome inside your community (e.g. a facebook group). It's a great way to install accountability, receive feedback, keep up to date with their progress and thus build up testimonials.
PRE-WORK (optional)
If you want to increase the return of your workshop , you may consider sending your participants some kind of task upfront that puts them in action even before the workshop begins. Make sure it fits with the need of the participent and the goal of your workshop. Examples: send them an enticing invitation, an interesting article or a question to prepare.
CLOSING
A good closing, just like the opening offers clarity, energy and connection. Make it positive and active. People often take away the atmosphere and the feeling of the last minutes as their memory. In the concept of a 1-hour workshop, it is the perfect place to invite them to connect with you. Tip: create a low-ticket offer that allows both parties to invest further in the 'know-like-trust' factor. E.g. membership, free strategy call...
TRANSFER
This step allows the participants to translate what has been learned and practised into a plan to apply this in their own real-life situation. It's important that you provide the time for this transfer to take place. In the rush of life, out of sight will quickly become out of mind. Helping your participants is what will increase the return of your workshop and therefore ensure both your and their success.
OPENING
Think carefully about your opening. Make sure you provide clarity for what's to come and encourage interaction with you and among the participants. Important note: the first 10 minutes determine the behaviour and the level of participation of the group for the rest of the session. Tip: Do not rush to start on your content! If you take the time to create a connection and activate the participants from the start, you will reap the benefits during the rest of your workshop.
FOCUS
Before you start sharing content with the group, take a conscious moment to start with the individual. Allow them to 'hook on' by making them think about what they want to get from or what they want to share about the topic you are introducing. Tip: even a simple question can be enough to create clarity and bring focus. E.g.: What do you know about this topic and what do you want to learn about it?
CONTENT
This is a very important part of your workshop and the better you introduced it in the previous elements (opening, focus), the quicker and easier this part will go. To choose fitting activities, consider these factors:
- What is the goal you have set? (remember the A in PASS: awareness, application or attitude)
- What is your role during the workshop? Are you there as an expert, a facilitator or a coach?
