When did it happen?

The Vietnam War was a conflict in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia from November 1st of 1955 to the April 30th 1975.
It lasted almost 20 years.

What did happen?

The United States decide to take part in the vietnamitese civil war, supporting South Vietnam side.

Why is this important

It was one of the major conflicts during the so called Cold War.It had a great impact not only in Vietnam itself,but also in the american society,because thousands of young americans had to fight in this war.

Why does it appear on the film?

The film is based in the years from 1945 to 1982, and it depicts a lot of historic events,one of this is the Vietnam War,and Forrest is witness of many of this events.
Forrest fought in the Vietnam War as an infantry soldier and he saved a lot of his fellow colleagues during a battle.He has to be evacuated because he was wanded.
