Curiosities
The word Slav does not have a certain origin, since it is not known exactly what word it comes from or why. It is believed that it may come from the medieval Latin ´´slavus´´
There is an ancient Slavic myth of two gods: Perun and Veles. Perun is the celestial god of thunder, fierce and dry, who rules the world of the living from his citadel on high. Veles, on the other hand, is a chthonic god, associated with waters, earthly and humid, lord of the underworld, who rules the kingdom of the dead from below.
According to archaeological, linguistic and other remains, the Slavs formed an ethnic group in the surroundings of what is now the Slovak country.
Language
Proto-Slavic, the ancient language from which all Slavic languages are derived, separated from Indo-European at an undetermined time, becoming part of the group of Balto-Slavic languages, a phase in which it developed numerous common lexicons with the Balto-Slavic languages. According to some hypotheses, the Indo-Europeans who did not emigrate began to speak Balto-Slavic.
In theory there are 275 native speakers of any Slavic language, these languages are: Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Czech, Bulgarian, Belarusian, Slovak, Slovenian, Macedonian, Silesian, Rusino, Moravian, Asubian, Upper Sorbian, Lower Sorbian, Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, Montenegrin ( This last four are in reality the same language called Serbo-croatian but are considered different because of political reasons )
Important empires

traditions
On June 20, Perun Day was celebrated, an ancient Slavic holiday dedicated to the god of thunder and warriors. In the past it was one of the most important events and it endures in today's Russia. It is believed that on this day men sacrificed a rooster or a bull and washed their weapons in the animal's blood.
These are not traditions, but, the Slavs are quite ´´ superstitious ´´ so there are some ´´ strange ´´ rituals or traditions, these are some: - The spilled salt. This tradition comes from very ancient times, when salt was very expensive and scarce and this meant a financial hit for peasant families.
- If someone leaves the house and forgets something, they should not come back. If you have to return at all costs, you should look in a mirror before leaving.
