Steel Ring Turning (If necessary)
Some seals require steel rings, which are machined or turned to the exact specifications needed for the assembly.
Assembly and Quality control
- The individual components – graphite rings, SiC plates, and steel rings – are assembled to form the complete seal.
- Quality checks include leakage tests, dimensional accuracy, and operational checks under simulated conditions.
Silicon Carbide (SiC) Plate Preparation
- Material Weighing : Accurate measurement of SiC materials.
- Wet Granulation and Drying : Combining and drying the SiC mixture.
- Milling and Sieving : Ensuring uniform particle size of the SiC powder.
- Pressing : Forming the SiC powder into plates.
- High-Temperature Argon Baking : Baking the plates in an argon environment to achieve the necessary strength.
- Lapping the Plate : Smoothing the plate's surface for optimal sealing performance.
- Washing and Inspecting : Cleaning the plates and inspecting for quality assurance.
Carbon Ring Production
The process begins with the preparation of individual components that make up the dynamic seals.
- Graphite Ring Manufacturing
- Material Weighing : Accurate weighing of raw materials is crucial for consistency.
- Continuous Granulation : This process binds the graphite particles together.
- Milling and Sieving : The granulated material is milled into a fine powder and sieved for uniformity.
- Hot Pressing : The powder is pressed into the desired ring shape under high pressure.
- High-Temperature Baking : The pressed rings are baked at high temperatures to achieve the required hardness and durability.
Testing (if needed)
Our testing facilities in Amiens have been enhanced to conduct comprehensive assessments, including endurance testing, abrasion resistance evaluation, and rigorous examination under extreme temperature conditions or other challenging environments.
Purchasing other components
We are used to purchase all the other necessary components :
- elastomer/rubber parts
- most of metallic parts (springs, sleeves ...)
- alumina
Packaging
After passing quality assurance, the seals are packaged for shipping. Packaging is designed to protect the seals during transit.
