EMANUELKANT VS SOCRATES

PRESENTATION

Emanuel Kant

Emanuel Kant was born on April 22, 1724, in Königsberg, Russia. In his childhood kant had rather strict perants. Thay ware simple artesans and only middle class. Kant's early education was at the Collegium Fredericianum, a Pietist school, where he received a strong emphasis on religious education. He showed early academic promise, and his family's financial constraints influenced his frugal and disciplined lifestyle. Moving on to kants ideas, he proposed transcendental idealism, suggesting that while we can't know things as they are in themselves , we can understand how they appear to us through our mental categories and senses. I think that it would make a lot of sence, since we dont really know if every one sees life and things around us are the same, but to sume extent, since the human brain is made to think a serten way and it cant things extreamely difently.

PRESENTATION

Socrates

born around 469 BCE in Athens, Greece, does not have a detailed account of his childhood since he did not leave any written records of his own life. Most of what we know about Socrates comes from the writings of his students, primarily Plato. However, based on historical context, it's believed that Socrates grew up in a modest family. His father, Sophroniscus, was a stonemason, and his mother, Phaenarete, was a midwife. Socrates also followed his father's profession for a time, but he eventually turned to philosophy. Socrates believed that virtue is essential for a fulfilling life, and he tied virtue closely to knowledge. He argued that people do wrong out of ignorance, and by gaining knowledge, individuals would naturally choose virtuous. From my point of view this is a very intelegent but thair is a lot of peaople that really want to press on the wound and do in fact want to hurt.

ETHICS

One of the distinctive features of Kant’s ethics is that it focuses on duties, defined by right and wrong. Right and wrong are distinct from good and bad in that they directly prescribe actions: right actions are ones we ought to do (are morally required to do) and wrong actions we ought not to do (are morally forbidden from doing). This style of ethics is referred to as deontology. You see, Kant believes all our duties can be derived from the categorical imperative.

I think that tough Kant whas saying something very right, it realky deponds on the circumstans, since sometimes you have to think about comon wellbeing and not just what is moraly acceptable. For example, imagen that thair is a verple in the town sick from drinking it, and sume people cant aford any other water. Now when thay try and get the rat out it scretches and bites, that can be very dangerus. So the only way of getting out the animal is by killing it whith a very long speer. Moraly its not correct for you are killing the animal, but its for commun welth of the towy big agresive rat in the town well, it is making the people in the town sick from drinking it, and sume people cant aford any other water. Now when thay try and get the rat out it scretches and bites, that can be very dangerus. So the only way of getting out the animal is by killing it whith a very long speer. Moraly its not correct for you are killing the animal, but its for commun welth of the town.

ETHICS

On the other hand Socrates' view of virtue was grounded in the idea of moral excellence, which he believed was essential for leading a good life. He argued that virtue was not just a matter of behaving in a certain way, but also of understanding why that behavior was morally right. For Socrates, virtue was not just about following rules, but about understanding the reasons behind those rules and behaving in a way that was consistent with those reasons.

I rather like the way that Socrates saw life, since it sees an importance not just in doing things right or not, but also in having your brain right, knowing why you are doing those things.
